20 Jan Cultural Connections: Teacher Training Literacy skills development
When we invest in teachers, we invest in every learner they will go on to inspire.
Our January Literacy Practitioners Training marked the beginning of an exciting journey with the first edition of Pearston’s Creative Foundation Phase Playbook, an interactive teaching resource designed to support literacy development through creative, contextually relevant learning experiences.
Together, we explored the Playbook, learned to navigate its multimedia resources, experimented with creative teaching activities, and reflected on our own teaching identities through collage. More importantly, we began building a community of practitioners who are learning with one another.
What makes this initiative so meaningful is that it doesn’t end with a training session. It continues in classrooms, conversations, and collaboration. The next edition of the Playbook will include lessons designed by the literacy practitioners themselves, creating a curriculum shaped by the teachers of Pearston, for the learners of Pearston.
Sustainable educational change grows from local knowledge, shared creativity, and educators who are empowered to lead. We are excited to see how these ideas continue to flourish in the months ahead.
